Tim and Diana Heagarty's 1996 Impala SS "Impy"

Both of my beauties; Diana and Impy, in one picture...

Diana and Impy in Scottsdale, Arizona
Diana had this photo done while I was on a business trip. She gave it to me for Christmas 2000. What a woman!

I bought Impy in July of 2000 from a police officer in Amherst, New York. He loved the 9C1 Caprice cars that he drove on the job so much that he found an Impala for his own. An approaching baby and renovation forced him to sell his "pride and joy".

To me.

Someone had already performed a Homebase-ectomy which I would have done immediately anyway.

K&N Fuel Injection Performance KitsOne of the first modifications I made was to install a K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit (FIPK) with the K&N 10 year, 1,000,000 mile warranty air filter. The sound and performance gains were immediate, very noticeable and great! At the time I lived just 45 minutes south of Summit Racing so Justin and I made a "parts run" up to their Talmadge location and picked up the air filter and other necessities of automotive life. Now I have to wait on the UPS man to bring me my automotive fix.

Now that Impy was breathing easier he went into the moving van in November of 2000 and made a long haul to Arizona where he, and I, now live.

Just for fun Impy now sports a Red Bowtie on his grill from the fine folks at the NAISSO Superstore.

For Christmas 2000 Impy got all around limo tint. That's important in the Arizona sun both for his leather and mine.

A nice round set of BF Goodrich g-ForceKDWS went on the factory five spokers the summer of 2001. I wish I had kept the old rubber for some nice burnout times. When I went back for them later in the afternoon the tire guy wouldn't let me have them saying they "weren't usable for the street, too worn out...". I imagine they were already in his pickup. Just for that I won't be telling anyone where I got them tires!

A Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back exhaust with polished stainless steel tips went on the old boy the summer of 2001. Boy is Impy purring now.

In the wrong place at the wrong time. A huge windstorm blew through here a few nights ago and blew over the basketball backboard and pole. Yes, the one standing right next to Impy. Impy was VERY lucky. There's a big round basketball pole sized impression at the top trailing edge of the right fender. All glass is intact. Better get Maaco.

Oh my gosh! Better NOT get Maaco!! I don't have enough bandwidth to tell you the horror story with Maaco. Let's just leave it that they royally messed up Impy's beautiful black paint on a simple repair and I need to find someone that can take off the gray clearcoat that they slathered all over my car. Dirtbags.

GM-LT1A few of us at the Southern California Impala SS owner's club (SOCALSS) generated a group purchase of Mezeire electric water pumps. The pump and a Painless Wiring relay kit is in the garage waiting for my time and attention for installation.

A new 160' thermostat went in January 2002. Now Impy runs much cooler but now I need to get the PCM work done. It never ends...

Red is rad. A set of 8.5mm MSD Ignition plug wires will weave their way from the Optispark to the Platinum +4 sparkers when the water pump goes on in January 2002. I couldn't wait. The wires are in and flowing massive electrons. They don't look all that cool since I don't have headers and they're hidden behind the manifolds. That's a good enough reason to get headers isn't it?

Impy got his new Arizona vanity plates... TIMPALA. Yes, I have a life, thank you. My car just happens to be part of it.

My beautiful wife came through again, as always. Impy and I were gifted with a set of beautiful thick black floor mats with custom black embroidery from NAISSO. I was so moved by her love for Impy and me that I went right out and ordered a full set of thick black carpet from my SoCalSS buddy Tom at ImpalaSSCarpet.

Caprice fuel bib for those unfortunate last second dribbles... This is probably one of the most important addons I have done. I have seen it work several times already while filling up.  I had no idea fuel dribbled that often. Get one now.

Future modifications...

Airdam and decal. It's just as important to look fast as it is to BE fast.
